Silvia De Bianchi is Associate Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the Department of Philosophy, where she led as Principal Investigator the ERC Starting Grant PROTEUS – Paradoxes and Metaphors of Time in Early universe(s) and currently leads the COSMOS project funded by Fondazione Cariplo. She previously held the prestigious Ramón y Cajal and Marie Curie Fellowships at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and was postdoc at ENS Paris, TU Dortmund and University College London. Her research explores the history and philosophy of cosmology and the foundations of current scientifc theories, as well as the relevance of philosophy to implement the ethical deployment of AI systems. In 2023 together with her ERC team members, Laura Marongiu and Laura Follesa, she created the ontology and vocabulary of the prototype TIMAEUS. She won the 2023 edition of Seed4Innovation for the project DIgital COllection unifier (DICOuni) and obtained the Seal of Excellence for her ERC PoC Project NAUTILUS in 2025.
